Lumecca IPL
Lumecca IPL
Protocol
Lumecca IPL is designed for pigment irregularities consisting of reds and browns created by aging, sun damage, rosacea, and small vessels. This is not recommended for hormonal related causes for hyperpigmentation, such as Melasma.
Skin Types I-III do not require pretreatment bleaching protocols and can have IPL every 3-4 weeks as needed for desired results. Skin types IV and V requires a bleaching protocol (sold separately) for 2-6 weeks before each treatment of IPL. The results will take longer as the treatment cannot be as aggressive and will be determined on each patient basis.
IPL does not prevent new damage from occurring, just erases old damage. IPL is also used to help improve the appearance of scars that are pigmented with reds and browns. IPL is great for active acne and can be used for decreasing hair growth. IPL is commonly used on face, neck, chest, arms, hands, abdomen, and legs.
Procedure
The day of your IPL service, the area will be clean, Ultrasound gel (unless there is an allergy) will be applied and eyes will be covered with googles for protection. Because the laser can be damaging to the eyes, we ask that no children accompany you to your appointment.
If adults are presents, everyone must be wearing googles for eye protection. Your pigmented spots will turn darker initially and will lighten and/ or flake off in about 7-10 days.
